How do I know what level is good for my kid?
Bike camps are split based on level first and then on age. We do a riding assessment on the first day to make sure all the kids have been placed in groups that are of similar strengths. Generally we only ask you to tell us approximately what level you might be.
I
What should my child bring to the camp?
Have your child/youth bring a small backpack with:

** plenty of water (at least 1.5 litres)

** a healthy lunch

** some wholesome snacks

** a rain jacket because you never know when it might rain in Vancouver.

** if the weather is hot, send a towel and bathing suit also

Please make sure your child is wearing shoes that can get a bit dirty!

Equipment List (If you need to rent equipment see below):

1) A Bike appropriate for their level:

Little Rippers - no suspension required

Extreme Riders - front suspension recommended

CALL US IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHETHER YOUR BIKE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE CAMP

2) A Helmet:

Little Rippers - regular bike helmet

Extreme Riders - full face helmet required

3) Arm and Leg Pads

(Both LR and ER required)

I
What if we don't have any of the equipment?

ESC does weekly rentals for all the required equipment, but you must indicate upon registration what you need to rent:

Bikes (limited)

Helmets (see above for helmet requirements based on level)

Arm and Leg Pads

Or if you want to purchase the equipment but do not want to spend a fortune, check out

Sports Junkies New and Used Consignment Shop

located at 102 West Broadway for the best deals in Vancouver on bikes and bike accessories.

I
Is my bike OK?
We have different requirements for different camps when it comes to equipment. Generally there are very few requirements for Little Rippers, and more for Extreme Riders (front suspension will be a big asset for this group). All bikes must be in a perfect working order before we let you ride them so please book a tune-up for your bike well ahead of the camp! We will also have a limited number of high performance bike rentals, so let us ASAP if you need to rent a bike.
I
I don't know anybody in the camp- will I be OK?
Most kids sign up without their friends so you are not alone. You will discover that making friends is really fast and easy in an ESC camp. The instructor facilitates the interactions from the very first day and you end that day with a bunch of new buddies.
I
How will I know where to go every day?
Your parents will receive a list of locations for every drop-off and pick-up along with a map and directions. Just to be sure- ask your instructor- they don't mind!
