I
how do I know what level is good for me? - bike camps?
Bike camps are split based on level first and then on age. Generally we only ask you to tell us approximately what level you might be as there will be an assessment at the beginning of the first day and you will be placed in line with your level.
I
is an Adventure Camp for me?
If you love the outdoors then this camp is for you. You get to ride your bike, explore the rainforests in North Vancouver and go indoor rock climbing. We expect you to be a fairly sociable, responsible and curious person. A sense of humor helps! You should be of average physical fitness and ready to explore. Each group will be given digital cameras to record their adventures for the week!
I
what equipment do I need?
Each camp has a list of things that you are required to bring. For bike camps, we have a significant amount of gear (bikes, helmets, pads) that are available to rent. Adventure Camps usually provide most of the equipment except for personal-use items. All Extreme riders and Freeride team members are expected to have full face helmets, shin and elbow pads and a bike that is in working order. Please have your bike tuned up prior to your week of camp as our leaders are not mechanics! and we want the camps to run smoothly. Every rider will be required to bring a spare tube, weather appropriate clothing, water and a lunch that they will carry with them throughout the day. If you do not bring your full face helmet and armour then you will not be able to participate. Adventure Camp participants are required to bring a lunch, water and weather appropriate clothing!
I
is my bike OK?
We have different requirements for different camps when it comes to equipment. Generally there are very few requirements for Little Rippers, and more for Extreme Riders. All bikes must be in a perfect working order before we let you ride them so please book a tune-up for your bike well ahead of the camp!
I
I don't know anybody in the camp - will I be fine?
Most kids sign up without their friends so you are not alone. You will discover that making friends is really fast and easy in an ESC camp. The instructor facilitates the interactions from the very first day and you end that day with a bunch of new "buddies".
I
how will I know where to go every day?
Your parents will receive a list of locations for every drop-off and pick-up along with a map and directions. Just to be sure- ask your instructor - they don't mind!

ESC Adventures will provide young people with a myriad of camp options for every level of expertise. ESC Adventures will continue to provide ongoing motivation with specific skill building through solid guidance and knowledge, where individuals can obtain new found skills and be empowered through success outside.

Each level will take your Little Ripper on an adventure through the world of mountain biking while teaching them the important skills needed to ride the trails on the North Shore. Our main objective during the week is to teach safe riding behaviour while riding on our North Shore trails, practicing their skills on our mini-ramps and in our local bike park. All riders will be required to wear leg and arm armour and a properly sized bike helmet.

Nothing beats ESC Extreme Riders camps. Extreme Riders takes you on a journey to the center of North Shore mountain biking on our world famous trails. Riders are placed in 4 levels based on age and level (for example ER1 is for 8-12, ER2 for 9-13 and so on). Skill building starts right away with an intensive course on safety that will apply to each rider on and off the trails. The groups hit the trails on Fromme and Seymour mountains and rip-up the local skills park and they will ride the trails that have made the North Shore the place to ride!
Register your child for Extreme Riders now!
Level 1 - An Extreme Rider in level 1 has mastered proper braking and gear techniques and are ready to hit the trails on the North Shore. Level 1 will start with an introduction to the world of North Shore mountain biking on the lower trails of Fromme Mountain, Seymour Mountain and the Seymour Demonstration Forest. During your week of camp we will focus on proper bike positioning, climbing and descending, and how to maneuver around and over trail obstacles. Skills will be practiced on and off of the trails, on our mini-ramps and in our local bike park.
Level 2 - An Extreme Rider in level 2 has been introduced to the trails on the North Shore. The riders in Extreme Riders 2 will spend their week riding the beginner trails on the North Shore mountains. Attention will be paid to riding over and around obstacles, riding on low ladder bridges, and learning how to approach small roll-overs and drops. During your week of camp we will continue to work on bike positioning, climbing and descending, ratcheting, balance and obstacles. Skills will be practiced on and off of the trails, on our mini-ramps and in our local bike park.
Level 3 - An Extreme Rider in level 3 is ready to ride the intermediate trails on the North Shore. The riders in Extreme Riders 3 will spend their week exploring the upper trails on Fromme and Seymour Mountains. These trails will lead them to the destinations that made the North Shore famous as the pinnacle of the mountain biking world. Riders will learn how to ride skinnies, drops, roots, rocks and eveything else that these intermediate North Shore trails have to offer.
